The game Expedition: Northwest Passage places players in the role of expedition leaders exploring the dangerous Arctic seas to discover the fate of Sir John Franklin and to succeed where he failed: to find the Northwest Passage.

Players send members of their crew onto ships or sleds to perform various actions such as:

  • Exploration
  • Movement
  • Gathering information related to Franklin's expedition

As the game progresses, the seasons pass and parts of the sea freeze, blocking the passage of ships. Players earn victory points by gathering evidence, mapping the area, and discovering the Northwest Passage. To win, they must return to Greenland in time.

This new edition of the game, dating from 2010, offers new materials and mini-expansions as well as a solo player mode.
