The keyboard offers features that until recently were found mainly in much more expensive models.
The most important are the Hall Effect magnetic switches (made to exclusive order by KTT, which also supplies other custom keyboards for those who know). Unlike classic mechanical switches, they do not rely on metal contacts rubbing against each other to register a press. Detection is magnetic, which significantly reduces mechanical wear on the contacts and offers a very long lifespan. Especially these ones come factory pre-lubed (less friction, buttery feel, better sound), something that only custom keyboards have and not mass-produced ones like Razer or Logitech made in huge quantities. At the same time, they allow an adjustable actuation point, different key behavior depending on press depth, and Rapid Trigger, so the key can activate and reactivate much more immediately.
The 8K polling rate can send up to 8,000 reports per second to the computer, reducing input latency even further.
Another strong feature is the built-in screen, which is mainly there for display, but you can also view and manage keyboard information and settings without having to open the software every time, as well as load your favorite GIFs. The rotary knob works as a practical control for functions such as volume and other parameters, offering immediate control without key combinations.
On the build side, first of all it has swappable switches; if one breaks (something very difficult with magnetic switches), you simply replace it with the special tool included in the box in 2 minutes and it is not damaged. It does not have aluminum but extremely high-quality solid heavy plastic, gasket mount for improved sound, elasticity and uniformity, double-shot PBT keycaps with a matte texture that do not shine and have a heavier sound than simple ABS, multiple layers for a more stable and full typing feel and better acoustic behavior. The multilayer construction, together with the dampening materials and foam gel layers, limits unwanted vibrations and metallic sounds. The result is a deeper, fuller and more "thocky" sound, instead of the thin and metallic sound that simpler builds can have.
This is exactly where the comparison with more expensive keyboards becomes interesting. A more expensive mechanical or optical keyboard simply means that you paid a lot of money for promotion, YouTubers, streamers and research. HATOR simply skipped all that. It designed exactly what professionals and gamers want, gave it directly to factories in China and Taiwan without middlemen, where all the big companies go, and made it. It did local distribution with the eletek network, in which the owner is a major executive and who has previously built distribution for top brands and also has the retail chain Zona51, so we are talking about an enthusiast, word-of-mouth company that saved countless expenses in order to produce fewer and better units that will reach your hands at the price you see.
I will mention only one negative. Its software is good and complete, but companies like Wooting, for example, which specialize in this, are far ahead. I say this because the software does most of the work in these keyboards. Still, it is at a high level, does what it promises, and logically, since it is software, it will be refined with continuous updates.
In general, it can stand against keyboards that are quite more expensive without making you feel like you are paying less for a lower-quality generic... On the contrary, in the end you feel like, look, I have more things than you and I paid half.
