I’m a photographer and I have flat feet and spend a lot of time on my feet. I have the 31s and the 32s. So this is the third generation I’ve bought.
The Kayano, as an Asics brand, is for people with flat feet who want a shoe for walking, the gym, and low-tempo running. Unfortunately, in this category it has almost no competition. On doesn’t make a competitive shoe, and neither does Nike. Only Adidas. But those who know understand that Asics is superior...
What the Kayano 33 brings that the 32 didn’t:
-A slightly better grip in the rain. They aren’t rain shoes, but on wet ground, as you’ll see in all the reviews, they have dramatically better grip than most of the competition.
-A NEW SOLE, finally. If you flew in the 32, with the 33 you’re in the stratosphere.
This means the feel underfoot is a little different. In any case, the shoe gives you more confidence when making sharp changes of direction.
It’s also lighter, and even though the difference is small, you can tell.
It also seems to me that the new sole provides even better support in the metatarsal area, which really feels completely secure with every impact.
It also seems to me that the laces on the upper tighten less and more smoothly over the foot compared with the 32, where I needed to change how I laced them at least once or twice to stop them from bothering me.
Is this a shoe for taking 10,000 steps a day? It’s for 20,000 steps a day. At 10,000, honestly, you haven’t even walked. The shoe is so comfortable that it practically shouts, “Walk with me.”
I got them in black with a white sole and in all black. The black ones with the white sole are the nicest. They go with jeans, shirts, everything.
The downsides: After two weeks, I’ve already noticed creases from walking on the white sole. The white parts also get dirty very easily. They need a good cleaning often, before the dirt sets in.
You buy them and forget you’re wearing them. These are the best €200 you’ll spend on everyday stability shoes.
