When the World Cup began, in 1930, who could have imagined that about a century later it would have evolved into the ultimate football “rendezvous” and that that idea would have offered so many thrills in every corner of the planet? Some read about them, others saw them on television, the luckiest experienced them as spectators in the stands... the truly blessed “wrote” the pages in the history book of the tournament as protagonists.

This book and its authors aimed at that last category, allowing many of those who “lifted” the iconic World Cup trophy to open the box of their memories, alongside those who attempted to touch it but did not succeed. In total, 45 people shared their stories behind the trophy. Exactly as the title of the book says and exactly what the photograph on its cover shows, with many hands around the trophy trying to touch it. Some experienced it. Some others did not. All of them, however, no matter how they experienced it and at whatever stage of their lives, whether as children, teenagers, or adults, felt its magic.
