The Axon AXON-VIDEO-IP-4POE surge protector protects digital CCTV devices that communicate via 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet, with particular application to IP cameras powered remotely via PoE. It has four independent channels to protect multiple cameras and a metal enclosure that shields the circuit.
The two data transmission lines (1-2 and 3-6) and the power line (4+5 and 7+8) are protected by surge protection components, which divert the surge to ground and protect the lines from one another. For increased current-carrying capacity, lines 4 and 5 are shorted together, as are lines 7 and 8. Connection to a functional earth or PE conductor is required in accordance with applicable regulations; the earth conductor must not be connected to the building’s lightning protection system.
