The 1980s was the decade of video. VHS had dominated, and cinema had made its way into our living rooms, where the device for playing recorded videocassettes was connected to the television so we could watch movies. Movies that we could, if we wanted, keep in our personal film collection, just as we had a book (in our library), a 45 record, or an LP (in our record collection), and watch them as many times as we wished – even… frame by frame!
For the author, the 1980s marked a turning point. He had completed his studies, earned his degree in Mathematics, and… became a film critic! He started writing professionally for a video magazine, then moved on to television, eventually maintaining a film criticism column in a daily political newspaper.
101 texts from that era make up the content of this book. Articles from the magazine TV + Video (his first writing period), from the magazine TV3 (second), and from the newspaper Exormisi (third), with minimal changes and some (necessary) additions. Some of these have been posted on the blog freecinema.gr, which he has been collaborating with in recent years.
