Sometimes I see micro freezes, two or three times during the two weeks I'm using it I had eGPU suddenly disconnnected during a game, but still it is much better experience than trying to play games on a laptop's weak so-called "dedicated" graphics card.
What could be better:
- The dock has mounting holes only on a front side, and they are not enough to firmly attach ATX power supply and GPU to the dock. I mean its Ok while everything is standing on a table, but have to be very cautious moving things around. My RTX5070ti has embedded nuts on its back side and it would be great to have them in the dock's back too, but alas.
- the NVMe bay is not convenient to use
- the GPU coolers keep spinning when the dock is disconnected from the laptop. So I have to switch off the dock's power supply each time I shut down the laptop.
Now some troubleshooting notes for those who may use the dock with a laptop similar to mine:
My laptop has an RTX A2000 built in and that made drivers setup troublesome: Lenovo driver for A2000 does not have RTX5070 in the list of supported hardware, gaming drivers do not list the A2000 and its impossible to install them both at the same time. The solution was to use NVCleanstall utility to add extra VID/PID to one of those drivers' list of supported hardware (I ended up using the Studio driver).
