Description

Ceylon High Grown OP (Orange Pekoe) Tea 0.5 kg

Ingredients: 100% Ceylon black tea

Country of origin: Sri Lanka

Ceylon High Grown OP (Orange Pekoe) tea is a black tea with long, pointed leaves, occasionally containing golden tips. The infusion is characterized by a delicate aromatic flavor, a refreshing taste, and a ruby-golden color.

Black tea is what comes to mind when one imagines a cup of tea. You may have grown up with various types of black tea. The largest percentage (80%) of tea consumed worldwide is black tea. It is fully fermented and contains the highest amount of caffeine among all teas. It also contains flavonoids, which strengthen blood vessels, inhibit the growth of bacteria in the digestive system, and stimulate the secretion of digestive juices. Flavonoids are also known for their beneficial, stabilizing effect on blood pressure.

Black tea production process:

  • Withering: the fresh leaves are withered to prevent their surface from breaking during rolling.
  • Rolling or twisting: during this process, the leaves emit a fruity aroma reminiscent of apples. Chemicals that determine the final color and aroma of the tea are released into the twisted leaves.
  • Fermentation: the twisted leaves are left for several hours to absorb oxygen, which causes chemical changes that turn the leaves from green to ruby-brown.
  • Drying: the oxidized leaves are exposed to high temperatures to stop further natural decomposition, resulting in the final black color and characteristic aroma of the tea.
