The Astrosolar Safety Film solar filter is designed for observing and photographing solar activity. Its double-sided metallic coatings have a uniform density and help ensure good color balance across the entire field, while the homogeneous film minimizes light scattering.

With the filter, the Sun appears a neutral white, and the sky around the solar disk appears pitch black. Observation makes it possible to distinguish details in sunspots, faculae near the edge of the disk, and the granules on the Sun’s surface.
