What is ETRTO size and why is it worth considering?

The ETRTO size is a standard tire size designation developed by the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation. It allows for easy verification of whether a new tire will fit your bicycle. The ETRTO is written in a format similar to postal codes – for example: 57-584.

What do these numbers mean?

• 584 mm: the internal diameter of the tire, that is, the size of the rim the tire must fit onto.

Note: The diameter (second number) must match your current tire – this cannot be changed. However, the width (first number) can vary – you can choose a narrower or wider tire as long as it fits your bicycle frame.
