Description

Athens, year 1998. The country is burning with the fever of the Stock Market and preparing for the Olympic Games, yet terrorism and organized crime tarnish the narrative of development. At the same time, two middle-aged engineers, former anti-authoritarians, live lonely lives pretending to be contractors.

One builds apartment buildings and spends his nights lost in dark cinema halls, watching film noir. The other makes a living by taking on small projects in factories and fantasizes about armed struggle. Their link is the organization of robberies. Together with two criminals, they wear masks and rob armored trucks.

Things get serious when they target a bank. The job will be done with a lockpick. The plan requires engineering knowledge and fox-like cunning. But on the real fringe, you don’t survive if you’re not a scoundrel. The gang draws the attention of professional criminals and the police. And this is just the beginning of their troubles.

Will the comrades escape, clutching five billion drachmas? Or will they be forced to raise their hands high, cornered by cops, fatal women, and their revolutionary past? (From the presentation on the back cover of the book)
