The Samurai is an innovative project by the Oceanic Team for an eging rod designed based on the specific needs of Greek anglers, after gathering information from all over Greece.

The main need identified was the extension of our casting distance, especially in rocky areas and beaches, as it was observed that long casting was often the decisive factor for success.

After many tests, choosing a longer length of 8.9' (2.68m) proved to be the best, while the Fazlite K guides by Fuji with tall feet provided the right friction absorption so that the cast would not be abruptly interrupted.

The next challenge was for the rod to simultaneously offer sensitivity to the squid jig, bite detection, and good performance during jerks without being slow or medium slow, thus losing all its casting virtues.

The final result was beyond expectations, with incredible sensitivity in handling all sizes of squid jigs typically used in eging (#2.5, #3.0 & #3.5), and as a bonus, unmatched casting under all conditions.

A unique rod designed specifically for Mediterranean eging and its particularities, and not just another rod trying to imitate the Japanese fishing style, which is quite different from our own conditions.

In terms of features, the Samurai has a 33cm handle ideal for jerks and a good grip during casting, a reel seat with a special design to fit perfectly in your hand, PE Line #0.6-#1.0, Egi Weight #2.5-#4.0, and low weight for its type at 143g.

The Eginio from the Egido series by Oceanic Team is a round profile x8 (eight-strand) braid suitable for the eging technique in pink color, which is highly visible during our night fishing sessions!

Selected for Mediterranean Eging fishing, it features properties that meet our needs, with the most important being abrasion resistance against the rocks on the seabed, and secondly, fast sinking to better handle strong currents.

It has a PE diameter proportional to the Japanese scale, which means it is extremely thin so it spools correctly onto the reel, does not tangle, offers excellent feel of the squid jig, and gives us the ability for long casts!

The braid is manufactured in South Korea in a factory with a high level of expertise and quality control, while the spooling is done using the "spiral-spiral" method.
