Description

Over the past thirty years, Greece has undergone profound upheavals. From the superficial prosperity of the 2000s, it moved to the debt crisis, the memoranda, and a long period of economic adjustment. But what really changed? The chronic pathologies of the political and administrative system continue to limit the country’s potential, fueling citizens’ distrust towards institutions. At the same time, macroeconomic indicators may show improvement, but the real economy tells a different story, with small and medium-sized businesses struggling to survive, young people finding it difficult to plan their future, widening inequalities, and a housing crisis testing social cohesion.

In an era where management often replaces politics and appearance overshadows substance, this book attempts to bring back to the forefront the discussion about the country’s productive model, the functioning of institutions, the future of the welfare state, and ultimately, politics itself. Twenty-five young scientists, researchers, and professionals present their analyses, concerns, and proposals in a collective manifesto for the Greece of tomorrow. With scientific evidence and creative thinking, they seek answers on how inequalities will be addressed, how social mobility will be restored, how a new productive model will be built, and how democracy will be strengthened.

This book aims to contribute to the public dialogue on the challenges of the next day, through the perspective of a generation that has experienced the consequences of successive crises and is seeking ways to overcome them.

Because a just society is not a utopia. It is a political choice.
