Description

When the authors of this book decided to proceed with the historical documentation of the work of an entrepreneur like Dimitris Maniatakis, it was due to their belief that the man who was active in the company ICAP for about 40 years and who excelled as the head of PPC for some other period is a living example of creative entrepreneurship in our country. And this aspect of his is not only reflected in his achievements in the business field, but also in what he foresaw for the future, emphasizing the connection between entrepreneurial activity and culture.

Dimitris Maniatakis is a realistic and absolutely grounded person, who tries and wants to see beyond today, despite the charm of the present moment. As Matt Ridley would say, Dimitris Maniatakis is realistically optimistic, and this trait likely led him to success. He thus contributed significantly to the Greek economy and society, while even today he continues to contribute to Greek culture and its regional dimension, always acting with vision, a developed sense of entrepreneurship, and unwavering adherence to the principle of meritocracy.

We particularly believe that the establishment of the Maniatakeio Foundation in 1995 and through it the cultural, economic, and social development of his beloved hometown Koroni can and should serve as motivation and a model for similar initiatives in other parts of the Greek regions. This multifaceted and fertile work is presented in the pages of this book, within which the reader will find valuable food for thought and probably new ideas for creation in our truly fascinating yet complex digital age.
