The first volume of the work Eleftherios Venizelos and the Internal Front (1917-1920) sheds light on one of the most dramatic and less studied aspects of the National Schism: the conflict within Greek society during the first two years of Venizelos' dominance. Far from simplistic schemes and hagiographic approaches, it examines how the state, political discourse, the Press, local power mechanisms, and the exceptional conditions of the war shaped a dense web of pressures, exclusions, and persecutions against the anti-Venizelists.
