First of All… How We Measure

A characteristic of vertical blinds is that they are ideal for applications with great height.

  • When the window has a recess, we measure the entire width inside the recess and subtract a small gap of 0.5–1 cm from each side.
  • We measure the entire height inside the recess and subtract from the bottom side (usually 2–3 cm), so the blinds do not touch the bottom.

These are the final dimensions needed for the construction of the vertical blinds.

On a Simple Window

  • For the width of the window, we add 5–10 cm on each side for adequate overlap.
  • For the height of the window, we add 5–10 cm at the top for the blind supports.
  • At the bottom of the window, we add as much as desired, usually 5–10 cm.
  • If there is an inward opening window, calculate more width on that side.

For Balcony Doors the same applies as for a simple window, with one difference: from the total height, subtract 2–3 cm from the bottom.

Direction of the Blinds

  • As a rule, the blinds gather on the side with the window handle.
  • The control is also placed on the same side.

  • The shade you see may differ from that of the fabric.

  • They provide controlled light flow into the space.
