Vertical Blinds - Vertical Shades

A characteristic of vertical blinds is that they are ideal for applications with great height.

How We Measure:

  • When the window has a recess: We measure the entire width inside the recess and subtract a small gap of 0.5-1cm from each side, or more if there is a reason (e.g., hole for cables).
  • We measure the entire height inside the recess and subtract from the bottom side (practically the gap we want), but usually this ranges from 2-3cm, so that the blinds or the chain connecting them do not touch the floor.

These are the final dimensions needed for the construction of the vertical blinds.

For a Simple Window:

  • For the width of the window, we add 5-10cm on each side to always have sufficient overlap.
  • For the height of the window, we add 5-10cm on the top part for the installation of the blinds’ supports. Caution: Be sure that at the desired height there are no embedded cables.
  • At the bottom of the window – practically – we add as much as we want. Usually this is 5-10cm. Of course, if there is any obstacle (e.g., radiator), it must be taken into account.

If you have an inward opening window and do not want the blinds to interfere with the window opening when drawn to one side, calculate extra additional width from that side so that the blinds gather on the side of the window from the outside.

For Balcony Doors: The same rules apply as for a simple window, with one difference: From the total height, meaning the height of the balcony door plus 10-15cm at the top for the supports, we subtract 2-3cm from the bottom so the blinds do not touch the floor.

Direction of Blinds:

  • As a rule, the blinds gather on the opposite side to where the window handle is located.
  • The control mechanism is placed on the same side.
