The Mikrogeophagus ramirezi (previously Paplilochromis ramirezi) belongs to the family Cichlidae and is a beautiful, small, and peaceful cichlid. Although it was discovered more than 30 years later than its cousin, the Bolivian Ram Mikrogeophagus altispinosus, it is more well-known today.
