Historically, it has been known as the "fever tree" due to its effects on colds. It is traditionally used in inhalations, washes, and various therapeutic applications. Its leaves contain essential oil rich in antiseptic properties.

  • Thrives in low altitude areas, such as the Pieria Mountains.
  • The E committee supports the use of eucalyptus oil for treating colds and rheumatic ailments.
  • Effective in relieving bronchitis and asthma.
  • Enhances blood circulation and kills bacteria.

Usage:

  • For Tea: Add 1 tablespoon of crushed eucalyptus leaves to a glass of boiling water. Let it steep for 5-10 minutes, then strain before use.
  • For Washes: Boil 15 grams of crushed eucalyptus leaves in 1 glass of water for 5 minutes over low heat. Let it steep for 1-2 hours and strain.
  • For Inhalations: Boil a handful of eucalyptus leaves in 1 liter of water and breathe in the steam.

Origin: Greece, Imathia Prefecture (collected from the Pieria Mountains)

Storage: In a dark and cool place (5°C – 15°C).

Side Effects: In large doses, eucalyptus essential oil can cause stomach irritation or allergic reactions. It is not recommended for children under 12 years old or for pregnant and breastfeeding women without medical advice.
