Historical Information: Burdock has been known since antiquity for its healing properties. In ancient Greece, Hippocrates and Dioscorides mentioned it as "arction" and used it to treat skin conditions and relieve pain. Easily recognizable as a herbaceous plant reaching up to two meters in height with large heart-shaped leaves and purple flowers.
Properties: The plant has proven anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, ideal for skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It is traditionally used as a diuretic for urinary tract infections. Its external use aids in the healing of wounds and ulcers.
Usage: 1 tablespoon of burdock is steeped with 1 glass of boiling water in a covered container, left for 10-15 minutes, and strained before use. It can also be used externally in the form of washes for skin conditions.
Origin: Greece, Imathia Prefecture (collected from the Pieria Mountains at low altitude).
