Historical information: Chamomile is one of the most well-known medicinal plants in the world and has been used since ancient times. The word chamomile comes from the ancient Greek "chamaimēlon" meaning "earth apple," due to its apple-like scent. In ancient Greece, Hippocrates and Dioscorides mentioned it for its soothing and healing properties.

Properties: Chamomile flowers have anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects, useful for treating gastrointestinal discomfort. They are used externally for dermatitis, mucous membrane inflammations, and bacterial skin diseases. It is effective in respiratory diseases through inhalations. Topical use on wounds through sitz baths and ointments is recommended.

Usage: 1 tablespoon of crushed chamomile is steeped with 1 glass of boiling water in a covered container, left for 10-15 minutes, and strained before use.

Origin: Greece, Imathia Prefecture (collected from the Pieria Mountains, at low altitude).

Storage: In a dark and cool place (5°C – 15°C).
