Historical Information: Germander (Teucrium polium) is a perennial plant of the Lamiaceae family found in many areas of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. It has been known since ancient times for its medicinal properties and was used as a stomach and detoxifying herb.
Properties:
- Antidiabetic action by reducing blood sugar levels.
- Anti-inflammatory properties in cases of hemorrhoids and phlebitis.
- Improves venous circulation, soothes varicose veins and stretch marks.
- Relieves skin problems such as itching and irritations.
- Emmenagogue properties for menstrual problems.
Usage: 1 tablespoon is steeped with 1 glass of boiling water in a covered container, left for 10-15 minutes and strained. For washes, prepare 50-60 gr in 1 liter of water.
Origin: Greece, Imathia Prefecture (collected from the Pieria Mountains).
Storage: In a dark and cool place (5°C – 15°C).
