    In my first encounter with Locke's philosophy, this book offers an easy-to-understand interpretation of the Enlightenment thinker’s positions, focusing on the justification of civil disobedience as a means of restoring liberal balance. Although dense and at times pompous, the book, in a formalistic manner, familiarizes the reader with basic concepts of political philosophy such as natural law and property. In the book’s epilogue, the concept of civil disobedience is linked to language, while its ontological aspect is also explored rather briefly.

Political disobedience has been interpreted as a right, as resistance, as a moral stance. This work proposes a different starting point: that disobedience is not merely a political act, but a rupture point in the very way the political order makes sense of itself.

Starting from the philosophy of John Locke, it attempts to formulate the first foundational terms of a theory according to which political disobedience emerges when power is detached from its human origin and established as normality. Disobedience, from this perspective, does not dissolve the political form; it reveals its limit.

Through the analysis of three hypothetical forms of political constitution — of authoritarian necessity, natural order, and historical necessity — the book examines how political systems transform their constitution into apparent necessity. In the crack of this naturalization emerges the critical question: Can a political community remain legitimate if it does not allow the possibility of being challenged?

The work does not aim to close the discussion; it seeks to open a theoretical field. To set the terms of a problematic in which political disobedience is not an exception to the order, but a structural possibility of it.
