Memory and oblivion are opposing concepts. Memories “intrude” precisely there, at the point where remembrance is divided, so that experiences, as memories, are not overcome and eventually forgotten. Thus, the paradises of the past will continue to live on, to form part of the temperament and worldview of the people of Imbros and Tenedos.
