Continuing the publication of the issues of Nea Genia, we present the second volume which includes issues 57-68 (September 1945-March 1946). The issues were published on the initiative of the KKE Youth Organisation (KNE) and the Panhellenic Union of Fighters and Friends of EPON-PEAFE, and are dedicated to the 90 years of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
Prior to this, there was a volume with issues 39-56 (November 1944-September 1945), and another volume and a smaller one follow.
This publication serves as a bridge between the past and the present during a period that is worth remembering and studying to become better, more militant, and more capable in the modern struggle. It expresses gratitude to the youth of EPON for their fights and sacrifices during the difficult years of occupation and the equally challenging years that followed after liberation.
It is certain that young people, at every stage of life, are characterized by a thirst for the new, for innovation, and for pioneering ideas. No matter how many times one reads Nea Genia over its entire publication period, under different political conditions, it remains a source of admiration and, most importantly, of valuable timeless lessons, even if some elements have changed.
It is impressive and inspiring how EPON’s organization fosters cultural and aesthetic development among its members and readers. Literature, poetry, and all forms of art pass through the pages of Nea Genia, reflecting human and youthful sensibility in all its richness. The artistic design of the editions, especially the covers, reveals that art is the best friend of the struggle — inseparable from the tough fight for freedom, progress, and socialism.
The first volume is introduced with a foreword by Aleka Papariga, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, Yiannis Protoulis, Secretary of the Central Council of KNE, and Nikos Karantinos, resistance fighter and journalist.
