The body is made from solid poplar and features the PRS Original Cutaway Scoop for improved access to the lower horn. The bolt-on neck is made from a single piece of maple with the distinctive vintage 635JM profile and is paired with an 8.5-inch-radius maple fingerboard, 22 vintage-size frets, and the signature Small Birds inlays. The electronics feature three 635JM “S” single-coil pickups in an SSS configuration with a 5-way blade switch. Basic Features
Poplar Body Construction & Ergonomic Left-Handed Design
The body of the instrument is made from solid poplar (Solid Poplar), a tonewood that provides a neutral, balanced tonal response while retaining acoustic weight. The body follows the classic curves of 1960s models, adapted entirely for left-handed use. It features the distinctive shaping of the lower cutaway (PRS Original Cutaway Scoop), allowing unrestricted wrist movement at the higher frets. The ergonomic contours on the back and forearm rest ensure stable support and even pressure distribution, while the glossy Nylon Blue finish provides effective protection against moisture and surface abrasion.
635JM Neck & 8.5" Radius Maple Fretboard
The neck is made from a single piece of Maple and attached to the body with a four-point bolt-on joint, ensuring direct transfer of mechanical vibrations. It is shaped to the distinctive 635JM Carve profile, based on the vintage dimensions of instruments from 1963–1964 and offering comfortable palm support. The maple fretboard has a classic 8.5" (216 mm) radius, combining a traditional feel with smooth bends without loss of sustain. It features 22 Vintage Small frets, Small Birds inlays, and an inverted PRS headstock, which ensures an even string break angle behind the 41.45 mm nut.
635JM “S” Electronics & Tremolo Support System
The electronic circuit features three single-coil PRS 635JM "S" pickups, designed to deliver clear highs, rounded mids, and a full low end without excessive harshness. The left-handed 5-way blade switch lets you select individual pickups or the in-between positions (2 and 4), while the controls include a Master Volume and two tone knobs, with Tone 2 directly controlling the bridge pickup. The hardware setup is based on a 2-point PRS Patented Steel Tremolo, which works with Vintage-Style tuning machines for tuning stability and accurate intonation.
