Description

The OBD2 Breakout Box test unit is a modern diagnostic platform for detecting communication between the car’s OBDII interface and diagnostic tools. The device allows OBD signal conversion, testing of voltages on the pins, and powering the vehicle during battery replacement, preventing data loss from the ECU or system lockup.

Main features:

  • Fast OBDII communication detection – the built-in LEDs visually indicate activity on each protocol.
  • OBD1 to OBD2 converter – allows the use of adapters to connect older cars with OBD1 plugs to an OBD2 tester.
  • Individual pin testing – makes it easier to diagnose voltages or faults on each line of the OBD connector.
  • External power supply function – keeps the car’s ECU active during battery replacement to prevent data loss or settings reset.

Operation:

Connect the OBD2 Breakout Box unit to the car’s diagnostic port. Power and voltage on the pins are displayed via LEDs. Connect the car tester – the LEDs light up or flash depending on the active protocol. For the CAN protocol, the CAN-H and CAN-L LEDs will glow brightly during detection and will blink gently during communication. If external power is required, connect a portable battery to pins 16 (positive), 4 and 5 (ground) to keep the ECU active while changing the main battery.

Main benefits:

  • Prevents malfunctions caused by power interruption (warning lights, lock failures, ECU reset)
  • Ideal for workshops, auto electricians, and diagnostics enthusiasts
  • Supports testing for most OBD-II protocols (CAN, K-Line, J1850, etc.)
  • Portable and easy to use, with a test cable included

Package includes:

  • 1x OBD2 Breakout Box with LED indicators
  • 1x Pin test cable

Pin functions:

  • PIN 2: J1850 BUS+
  • PIN 4: Power ground
  • PIN 5: Signal ground
  • PIN 6: CAN High
  • PIN 7: K-Line (ISO9141-2)
  • PIN 10: J1850 BUS-
  • PIN 14: CAN Low
  • PIN 15: L-Line
  • PIN 16: +12V Power

Note: This unit is not a standalone car tester but an intermediate tool between the car and the OBD2 tester, ideal for service centers or preliminary diagnostics.
