The PEBBLE series takes its name from the pebbles smoothed by water. The cup has no handle, giving the sensation of holding a stone from the seashore.
The absence of a handle offers direct contact with the temperature of the beverage, which is considered part of the experience in Japanese tea culture. With a very hot drink, the cup noticeably warms up during the first few minutes.
The enamel creates slight variations in tone and texture from piece to piece, with some showing the yōhen phenomenon — the unexpected color change during firing. These particularities result from handmade production and small deviations in dimensions, weight, and capacity may occur.
The cup's capacity is 180 ml up to the rim, and in practice comfortably serves 140–150 ml, suitable for tea, cappuccino, or a small filter coffee. It pairs perfectly with the PEBBLE 480 ml teapot.
The saucer, 110 mm in diameter, follows the same shape and enamel logic.
