Description & Specifications

The Galileo thermometer is a unique combination of science and decoration, based on the idea of the famous Italian physicist Galileo Galilei (1564–1642). Thanks to its elegant design, it measures the ambient temperature.

Its operation is based on the change in the density of the liquid depending on the temperature. When the temperature rises, the density of the liquid decreases and the heavier glass spheres sink. Conversely, when the temperature drops, the lighter spheres gain greater buoyancy and rise to the surface.

The five glass spheres have been calibrated with exceptional precision to display temperatures in the range of 18°C to 26°C. The temperature reading is determined by the lowest floating glass sphere.
