A guide to walking the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail, which follows Britain’s longest ancient monument: the earthwork of the eighth century that once defined the border between the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia and the Welsh kingdoms to the east.
The 285 km (177 miles) route from Sedbury Cliffs near Chepstow to Prestatyn is suitable for hikers of various abilities. The route is described from south to north in 12 stages, ranging between 17 and 29 km (11–18 miles), with additional suggestions for quicker and slower routes.
It includes step-by-step descriptions of the route along with 1:100,000 maps. There is also a separate booklet of maps containing OS 1:25,000 maps with the route line. Information on public transport is provided for those wishing to break the route into smaller sections.
