Preludio Americano No. 5 – Tamboriles is the fifth and final piece in the Preludios Americanos series by Uruguayan guitarist and composer Abel Carlevaro. It draws elements from traditional Uruguayan music, featuring characteristic percussion rhythms and a strong sense of movement. Carlevaro’s writing takes advantage of the capabilities of the classical guitar, combining rhythmic energy with dynamic contrasts. Tamboriles is an important example of Latin American repertoire for solo guitar and is popular among advanced guitarists.
The Preludios Americanos series was composed between 1957 and 1963 and constitutes an important part of Carlevaro's body of work.
