Tyramine is an amino acid synthesized in the human body from the amino acids cysteine and methionine in the presence of vitamin B6. It is found in high concentrations in the eyes, brain, liver and skeletal muscle mass. It is water-soluble and the body absorbs only the necessary amount. In the body of an adult weighing 70 kg, there are approximately 70 g of tyramine.

L-tyrosine is an aromatic amino acid that is also produced in the human body and is used in protein synthesis. In the dopaminergic cell structures of the brain, it participates in the production of dopamine, which is then converted into other catecholamines, such as noradrenaline and adrenaline. Also, in the thyroid gland, L-tyrosine and iodine contribute to the synthesis of thyroid hormones.
