For measuring the temperature of surfaces in hard-to-reach places, the Laserliner ThermoSpot infrared thermometer uses a laser pointer to identify the measurement area. It measures temperatures from -40 °C to 400 °C and has a distance-to-spot ratio of 12:1. The auto-hold function temporarily stores the last reading, while the minimum and maximum readings support continuous measurements.

The thermometer has a fixed emissivity of 0.95 and a resolution of 0.1 °C. Its housing is made largely from recycled plastic, and the device switches off automatically when not in use.
