Water from treatment systems using osmotic membranes and additionally applied demineralization raw materials generally has a low pH, around 5 or even lower. The degree of water purification by osmotic membranes mainly depends on the parameters of the input water. In some cases, water treated with an osmotic membrane (even without the use of demineralization resin) can have a similarly low pH around 5.
When maintaining tanks with KH=0 and using mineralizers that do not increase KH values (such as GH+ PLANT), a problem may arise with the water prepared for changes, which may have a very low pH. By using KH Builder, it is possible to increase the KH value and consequently the pH of the water prepared for changes.
In the case of active substrates and maintaining KH=0 (or close to "0") in the tank, and the use of mineralizers that do not increase KH values, it is recommended to increase the KH value of the replacement water (RO water or RO + full mineralization) in the range of 0.3-0.5 dKH. Potassium values should be taken into account and the potassium dose in the fertilization program may need to be adjusted accordingly. Below is a calculator that facilitates the preparation of any amount of water with the desired parameters and shows the amount of potassium at the selected KH value.
