This work constitutes a comprehensive presentation of the issues related to the subject of Private Insurance Law and incorporates both the law of private insurance contracts and the general legislative framework governing the operation of insurance companies and the state supervision exercised over them. This new edition has become necessary due to the modernization of insurance legislation with a multitude of legislative changes that have critically affected key issues.

The aforementioned developments created the need for a new edition to update the institution of private insurance in all its specific thematic areas and the supervision of insurance companies and Occupational Insurance Funds by the Bank of Greece (Law 5078/2023). Indicatively, these include the harmonization of EU Directive 2021/2118 with Greek law (Law 5113/2024) regarding mandatory motor vehicle liability insurance, Law 5162/2024 on compulsory insurance for businesses and vehicles against natural disasters, Law 5170/2025 on the abolition of the premium adjustment clause, Law 5193/2025 on the capital market and amendments to Solvency II provisions for insurance liquidation, the issuance of a Joint Ministerial Decision by ELSTAT determining the Health Price Index for long-term health insurance contracts regarding premium calculations, the cooperation of insurance companies with banking groups and private health providers.
