Description

The Little Prince, the most famous work by the French writer and pilot Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, has been translated into over 250 languages. It was included in the list of the most important books of the 20th century compiled by the newspaper Le Monde in 1999, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France.

In the now-famous story, the narrator crashes his airplane –which has suffered a malfunction– in the desert. There he meets the little prince, an unusual child, they get to know each other and become friends. His new friend gradually recounts his visit to other planets, where there are vain people, but also some more "human" ones.

Although it is considered a children's book, The Little Prince makes idealistic observations about life and human nature and addresses issues that concern people of all ages, such as loneliness, friendship, love, and loss.

Read what the two esteemed creators have to say about the project to journalist Stavroula Papaspyridou and LIFO: "I was interested in creating the space where everything takes place, the planets, the desert, the sky, even like postage stamps sometimes, without insisting on a realistic depiction. For the flower garden, for example, I made a collage from fabrics, while on the little prince's precious rose, I let the shape of a woman be discernible (...) Instinctively, I was led to that kind of illustration that exudes tenderness. This is the strongest element of The Little Prince, the tenderness is what makes it timeless." Alexis Kyritsopoulos

"What Saint-Exupéry did was incredible! In the midst of war and the dark occupation, death and hunger, he spoke about the stars and hope, about love. 'Don’t be hung up on money,' he said, 'set goals, show concern for your neighbor, and above all, dedicate yourself to what you love!'" Alkis Zei

Some pages were creased and the cover was scratched. It was given as a gift and it wasn't nice!

Excellent performance by Alkis Zee, but the illustration is also very good.
