Vanadium is a stable heavy metal and belongs to the mineral elements that can be absorbed by the body through air and food. It is a trace ultra-microelement, as it occurs in very small amounts in the human body. The largest amount is found in the liver, kidneys, and bones. It is also present in the ovaries, uterus, breast milk, and hair. Although it is not considered an essential trace element for humans, there is evidence that this metal is part of many important processes in the human body. Vanadium in chelated form is absorbed more easily by the body. Chelation results from the chemical bonding of minerals with amino acids in a very specific way. This occurs during digestion, facilitating the transport of minerals through the intestinal wall so they can be used throughout the body.
Vanadium may improve insulin sensitivity and help regulate blood sugar levels, which is beneficial for people with type 2 diabetes. Some studies suggest that it may enhance bone formation and improve bone density, as well as increase anaerobic endurance, which is useful for athletes.
