Greigii tulips (botanical or dwarf tulips) are one of the most distinctive and resilient categories of tulips (Tulipa greigii). Mixed means that the package contains a mix of colors. The indication 11/12 refers to the bulb circumference in centimeters, which is considered the top size for this category, as botanical tulips naturally have smaller bulbs than the classic ones.

Greigii stand out immediately, even before blooming, due to their unique foliage. Their leaves are broad, wavy, and have impressive brown, purple, or burgundy stripes and spots. They produce large, dazzling cup-shaped flowers, mainly in warm colors (red, orange, yellow, cream, or bicolor). When the sun is strong, the petals open wide in a star shape. These are low, dwarf tulips with a height of only 20 to 30 centimeters. They have exceptionally thick and sturdy stems, meaning they never bend from strong wind or rain.

They bloom early in spring (March to April). They are among the best tulips to leave permanently in the ground, as they return every year and multiply on their own, creating dense colonies.

They are planted in autumn (September to December), ideally when the weather cools down. Due to their low height, they are ideal for pots, window boxes, rock gardens, and for the front row (border) in flower beds. They require full sunlight. Sunlight is essential both for opening the flowers and for intensifying the colors on the striped leaves.

They need well-draining soil. Plant the bulbs at a depth of about 10 centimeters (with the tip facing upwards). Leave a distance of 8-10 centimeters between them. Because they are low, plant them in dense groups (e.g., 10-15 bulbs together) to create an impressive “carpet” of colors and patterns.
