The StarTech PCIe card adds four independent RS-232 serial ports with male D-Sub 9 connectors. It uses a CH384L chipset and supports baud rates from 50 to 921,600 bps, as well as full-duplex transmission with a 256-byte FIFO buffer. The host interface is PCIe x1 and is compatible with PCIe v2.0 and later.

It supports TXD, RXD, RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, DCD and RI signals, as well as 5, 6, 7 or 8 data bits, 1 or 2 stop bits, and parity options of none, even, odd, mark or space. ESD protection is rated up to ±15 kV. The card can be used for machine control, measurement technology, network management and other industrial or demanding applications.
