Peppermint essential oil is organic and edible, with a camphoraceous aroma. It is obtained by steam-distilling the fresh or dried Mentha piperita herb and has an intense, refreshing mint scent.
Its main component is menthol. It dissolves in alcohol, vegetable oils and essential oils, but is almost insoluble in water. It is used in aromatherapy, including in an aroma lamp, bath oil or massage oil, and blends well with rosemary, eucalyptus, lemon, marjoram and lavender.
