The new Sony WH-CH730N arrive as successors to the popular WH-CH720N, bringing improvements particularly in battery life and portability, while maintaining the same overall philosophy in their price category.
Here is a detailed comparison of their differences:
1. Battery Life (The biggest upgrade).
Sony WH-CH720N: Offers up to 35 hours of operation with Noise Canceling (ANC) on and up to 50 hours with ANC off.
Sony WH-CH730N: Battery life leaps to up to 50 hours with ANC on and up to 75 hours with ANC off. This translates to approximately 43% greater endurance with noise cancellation enabled, dramatically reducing charging frequency.
2. Design and Portability
Sony WH-CH720N:
The headphones feature swiveling earcups that lie flat, but they do not fold inward.
Sony WH-CH730N: They now incorporate a folding hinge, allowing them to fold inward for much more compact storage in a bag or backpack.
Weight: The 720N are lighter at 192 grams, while the new 730N weigh 207 grams. This small increase of 15 grams is mainly due to the larger battery and folding mechanism.
3. Connectivity and Codecs:
Sony WH-CH720N: They feature Multipoint (simultaneous connection to 2 devices), support for SBC and AAC, as well as a 3.5mm jack for wired use (passive mode).
Sony WH-CH730N: They retain exactly the same capabilities (Multipoint, 3.5mm jack, SBC, AAC), while additionally adding support for the newer LC3 codec (LE Audio), which ensures better power management and lower latency with compatible sources.
What remains the same:
Both models share a similar approach to active noise cancellation (ANC), Ambient Sound mode, built-in microphones, and full sound customization (Equalizer) through the Sony | Sound Connect / Headphones Connect app.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the WH-CH730N if:
You prioritize maximum battery life so you only have to charge them a few times a month, appreciate the folding design for easier travel, and want support for the latest Bluetooth standards (LC3).
Prefer/Keep the WH-CH720N if:
The slightly lighter feel on your head (192g versus 207g) is a key comfort factor for you, and their current battery life is sufficient for your everyday needs.

Sony WH-CH730N (NEW) VS Sony WH-CH720N
Sony WH-CH720N:
Ποιο να επιλέξεις;
