Vectra Felis is a topical antiparasitic product for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in cats.
Indications:
- Treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) in infested cats and prevention of new infestations for one month.
- Prevention of flea reproduction by inhibiting larval development in the cats’ environment for three months.
- May be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in cats.
Composition:
One Vectra Felis applicator (0.9 ml) contains:
- Dinotefuran ............... 423 mg
- Pyriproxyfen ............. 42.30 mg
This product is a spot-on solution supplied in single-use applicators.
Administration:
The treatment dose is 42.3–705 mg dinotefuran/kg body weight and 4.23–70.5 mg pyriproxyfen/kg body weight for cats weighing 0.6–10 kg.
Method of administration: spot-on (for external use only).
Take care to apply the product to intact skin. One application will prevent infestation for one month. Ensure that the dose or contents of the applicator do not come into contact with the animal’s eyes or those of other animals. Apply the dose to an area the animal cannot lick, and make sure animals do not groom each other immediately after treatment. Wash your hands after applying the product.
Contraindications:
- Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients.
- Do not combine or use at the same time as other medicinal products.
- Do not use in cats weighing less than 0.6 kg.
- The safety of this veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation in cats has not been established.
- Do not use in dogs!
Adverse effects:
Very rarely, mild dry skin, redness and temporary hair loss have been reported. These usually resolve spontaneously without treatment.
Temporary cosmetic effects at the application site have also been reported, including a wet or spiky appearance of the coat and a white residue. These effects may last up to 7 days, although they are usually no longer visible after 48 hours.
These changes do not affect the animal’s health or the effectiveness of the medicinal product.
After accidental ingestion of the medicinal product, temporary reactions such as vomiting, salivation and diarrhoea may be observed. These signs usually resolve within 4 hours without treatment.
