“Sociology in Our Time” offers a comprehensive introduction to the study of society and social life, with particular emphasis on the changes and challenges of the 21st century. It examines how politics, health, the media and social networks, technology, and broader social changes influence the way we live, work, and interact.
The material ranges from the basic concepts and methods of sociology to culture, socialization, social structure, groups and organizations, deviance, and crime. Particular attention is given to social inequality and stratification, race and ethnicity, gender, age, and institutions such as the economy, work, politics, the family, education, religion, and health.
It also explores population, urbanization, collective behavior, social movements, and social change, while presenting different sociological perspectives.
