Its name comes from Hawkstone Park in Shropshire, England, one of the historic Motocross tracks, known for its deep sandy terrain and challenging sandy climbs.
The MX1 Hawkstone GP design combines LFC (Lateral Flex Control), SAC (Stability, Aggressive Control) and BSB (Block Supporting Bracing) technologies with increased lug height and width to enhance traction in deep sand and mud.
LFC – Lateral Flex Control LFC (Lateral Flex Control) technology relates to the tyre carcass design and uses high-quality race polyester for a lightweight, heat-resistant construction. LFC is designed to control the carcass’s lateral flex, contributing to motorcycle stability and control, even in demanding Motocross conditions.
SAC – Stability, Aggressive Control The SAC (Stability, Aggressive Control) design philosophy focuses on stability, immediate and aggressive control, and increased traction. The MX1 Hawkstone GP features a greater tread lug height and width, with the aim of increasing the rubber contact area with the ground. At the same time, the design remains within the 19.5 mm tread depth limit specified by Plews Tyres.
BSB – Block Supporting Bracing BSB (Block Supporting Bracing) technology is designed to support the tread lugs under high loads and intense acceleration. Its aim is to limit unwanted lug flex and movement under load, helping the tread maintain greater stability when the rider opens the throttle on soft ground.
Increased lug height The increased lug height is designed to provide better bite in deep sand, mud and soft dirt. This tread design helps the rear tyre find traction from the start and during acceleration, when the ground is loose and effective lug penetration is required.
Developed for Soft Terrain The MX1 Hawkstone GP is specifically designed for tracks and terrain with deep sand and mud, following the demands of the sandy conditions at Hawkstone Park. The combination of taller, wider lugs with LFC, SAC and BSB technologies aims to deliver traction, stability and control in challenging Soft Terrain.
NHS – Not for Highway Service The Plews Tyres MX1 Hawkstone GP Soft Rear 100/90-19 carries the NHS (Non Homologated / Not for Highway Service) marking. This tyre is not approved for use on public roads and is intended for off-road and Motocross track use.
