Weighing just 160 g, it combines Daiwa’s modern AIRDRIVE DESIGN with a ZAION Monocoque (MQ) body and advanced transmission, drag, and reel protection technologies.

AIRDRIVE DESIGN Philosophy

The AIRDRIVE DESIGN philosophy focuses on reducing the weight and rotational inertia of the key moving parts. The AIRDRIVE ROTOR made from ZAION V offers a lightweight, rigid construction, contributing to an immediate response when turning the handle. 

At the same time, the AIRDRIVE SPOOL reduces spool weight, while the AIRDRIVE BAIL features a thinner, lighter stainless-steel construction for smooth line guidance.

Details

The one-piece ZAION Monocoque (MQ) body offers high rigidity and allows for a larger gear inside the reel. Combined with Tough Digigear, it delivers efficient power transmission, smooth operation and greater durability.

MagSealed technology protects the internal mechanical components by creating a barrier with special magnetic oil, helping to keep water and dust out. This makes the Ballistic Air suitable for both freshwater and saltwater, provided it is properly cared for after use.

The ATD Type-L drag system delivers smooth, progressive performance, which is particularly useful when using light lines and lighter setups. In the 2500XH version, the maximum drag is 5 kg, allowing controlled line release during the fight with a fish.

The aluminium ABS Long Cast Spool is designed to let the line flow more efficiently during casting, while Cross Wrap helps distribute it evenly on the spool. Twist Buster III reduces unwanted line twist as the line passes over the line roller.

The 2500XH version features a fast 6.2:1 gear ratio and retrieves 87 cm per handle turn, making it especially suitable for spinning techniques that call for fast retrieval and immediate lure control.
