Description

Altermedica® Wild Teasel 300 mg, 60 capsules

Supports the normal condition of bones, tendons and the urinary tract.

Altermedica® Wild Teasel helps maintain the healthy condition of bones, tendons and the urinary tract. Its combined antioxidant, diuretic and anti-inflammatory effects make it a suitable choice both for prevention and as a complementary treatment for existing problems in these areas.

  • Supports mineral balance and the metabolic stability of bones
  • Maintains normal tendon function
  • Helps support normal urination and the kidneys’ excretory function
  • Protects tissues against oxidative stress

Wild Teasel and Bioactive Compounds

Wild teasel is a perennial herbaceous plant from the Dipsacaceae family. The aerial parts of the plant—stems, leaves and flowers—are used therapeutically and contain a combination of bioactive compounds. The main compounds include tannins, organic acids (such as rosmarinic and lithospermic acid), polyphenols, flavonoids and alkaloids.

The characteristic properties of these substances include their ability to regulate inflammatory processes, balance the body’s alkaline and acidic environment, and support the removal of excess metabolic waste. For this reason, wild teasel has traditionally been used as a herbal remedy for joint discomfort and urinary problems.

The presence of lithospermic acid is particularly characteristic of the plant—it is known for its urinary tract-selective and antimicrobial properties.

Supporting the Strength and Flexibility of the Bone and Joint System

The body relies on proper metabolic balance to maintain bone density and the elasticity of connective tissue. Wild teasel affects the activity of enzymes that regulate the metabolism of minerals such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. This has a positive effect on bone remodelling processes, including the rates of bone formation and resorption.

Regulating Urinary Function and Maintaining Acid-Base Balance

The supplement acts as a natural regulator of the excretory system. The active ingredients in wild teasel have been shown to support kidney filtration, increase urination and facilitate the elimination of uric acid and other metabolic waste. This mechanism may be particularly beneficial for people prone to the formation of uric acid crystals or kidney stones.

In addition, lithospermic acid helps maintain the normal pH of urine, creating an unfavourable environment for the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. This provides a secondary antimicrobial effect, contributing to the healthy condition of the urinary tract.

Anti-Inflammatory Action and Protection Against Oxidative Stress

In modern conditions, chronic inflammation is a common factor in the development of metabolic and urinary tract dysfunctions. Wild teasel contains phytochemicals that suppress excessive production of inflammatory cytokines and slow the progression of inflammatory processes in tissues. Its antioxidant properties help neutralise free radicals that damage cell structures and accelerate tissue ageing.

Potential Hormone Regulation

There is some evidence that the plant may have a moderate potential to affect hormonal activity, primarily through mechanisms related to the thyroid gland. This is attributed to the ability of lithospermic acid to limit excessive iodine absorption. This effect is mild and does not replace treatment, but it may contribute to maintaining hormonal balance in certain conditions, indirectly affecting bone metabolism.
