More commonly known as the Pea Puffer or Pygmy Puffer, it is the smallest pufferfish in the world. Reaching a maximum adult length of just 2.5 centimetres, it is especially popular among aquarium enthusiasts. It is a true freshwater species, native to the slow-flowing, densely vegetated rivers and lakes of southwestern India. Despite their tiny size, these fish have big personalities, keen intelligence and distinctive eyes that move independently of one another.
