Grünlipp Muschel Concentrate by German company Karl Minck Naturheilmittel is a dietary supplement containing green-lipped mussel concentrate (Perna canaliculus). The product has a beneficial effect on joint health and musculoskeletal function. Green-lipped mussel extract has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and blood-pressure-lowering properties. It supports the gastrointestinal microflora and plays an important role in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, asthma and other chronic inflammatory conditions.

The green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) is found only in the waters of New Zealand and is farmed and produced worldwide for both the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Green-lipped mussels are exceptionally rich in various nutrients. They are a valuable source of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Their anti-inflammatory properties are due to their ability to inhibit enzymes and proteins that cause inflammation and pain.

Green-lipped mussels contain chondroitin sulfate, a component of the connective tissue that forms joints and bones, which may reduce inflammation and pain.

Mechanism of action:

• The active compounds in green-lipped mussels are furan fatty acids (F-acids), which are natural but rare and powerful antioxidants.
• F-acids inhibit the biochemical mechanisms responsible for producing leukotrienes and prostaglandins, two chemicals that cause inflammation in the body.
