The board game Koi showcases the beauty and tranquility of Japanese gardens. Players create their own three-dimensional pond and transform it into an exceptional habitat for koi fish. The term “koi” refers to colorful carp and is considered a symbol of perseverance, virtue, luck, and success.
In each game, players develop their own pond, add koi fish, and try to create a harmonious space that earns them victory points. Each turn includes two basic actions: “Meditate,” which allows players to acquire cards, coins, and new koi from the market, and “Work,” which allows them to use the Sensei’s abilities and place tiles to develop the pond.
The multi-layered tile-placement mechanism offers many construction possibilities, making every game unique. 3D elements such as bridges and lanterns enhance the atmosphere and transform the playing area into a mini Japanese garden. Dynamic objectives and new elements unlocked as the game progresses add variety and strategic options.
