This work provides a concise, article-by-article interpretation of the new Law of Succession, in a clear and practical format that serves as an essential reference tool for studying and applying the relevant provisions.

Law 5303/2026 completely replaced Book Five of the Civil Code, which governs succession. Under Article 41 of Law 5303/2026, the new provisions apply “to succession relationships involving persons who die on or after 16 September 2026.” The previous provisions remain in force for deaths that occurred before that date. Accordingly, the previous provisions in force to date are also set out beneath each article.

The work also includes numerous extracts from case law, many taken from unpublished judgments, presented systematically as interpretive tools for all the provisions of the former regime.
